今年8月，自治区有色地质勘查局704队在哈密市尾亚区域发现了新的钒钛磁铁矿床，预测资源储量惊人。这一重大发现不仅证明了哈密地区丰富的钒钛资源潜力，更进一步推动了新疆钒钛产业的发展。目前，哈密区域内钒金属查明资源量已达180万吨，为全国第三大钒钛资源区。
随着新一轮找矿战略突破行动的深入实施，哈密地区钒钛磁铁矿的找矿潜力正逐步显现。据哈密市自然资源局矿管科科长张国庆介绍，尾亚钒钛磁铁矿矿区深部及外围仍具有广阔的找矿空间，预计年底将取得新的找矿突破。
喀什地区巴楚县和阿勒泰地区青河县同样是我区钒钛磁铁矿资源的富集区域。巴楚县瓦吉里塔格钒钛磁铁矿矿区占地广阔，钒钛资源储备充沛。今年，巴楚县正式加入国家钒钛产业联盟，加速了钒钛资源的采、选、冶开发进程。预计年内，选矿厂一期项目将建成投产，届时将拥有每年80至100万吨的原矿开采加工能力。巴楚县致力于打造世界更好的钒钛产业基地，遵循“高位推动、建好平台、系统谋划、招大引强、稳步开发”的发展策略，全力推进钒钛产业的发展。
